Despite his climate change crusade, Harrison Ford is a regular flyer on private jets
Despite his well-known concern over climate change, famed Hollywood actor Harrison Ford has been seen travelling via private aircraft on many occasions in the most recent months. According to data compiled by ADS-B Exchange and Celebrity Jets, Ford's private jet, a multimillion-dollar Cessna Citation Sovereign, has flown on at least eight separate occasions in less than two months, covering a total distance of approximately 5,284 miles and producing approximately 35 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
Ford, on the other hand, has made a habit of appearing at global climate conferences on a regular basis, where he has appealed to private citizens and the heads of state to back initiatives to cut emissions and avert the catastrophic effects of global warming.
Global Climate Action Summit
At a conservation summit held in France the previous year, he made the observation that it is difficult to persuade one's children that everything is OK while simultaneously reading the news about floods, fires, famines, and plagues. "That's not going to work. Damn it, that's not going to cut it.
It is healthy to experience emotions such as annoyance, worry, and sadness; nevertheless, you shouldn't try to avoid them. Raise your voice in the name of justice, and of justice for mother nature.
He went on to say that
"The Earth possesses precious ecosystems that are abundant in carbon and biodiversity." "If we are able to preserve even a little portion of these wetland areas, tropical forests, and mangroves, we will be able to safeguard our native animals as well as our air, water, and food jobs, as well as our climate. Ford went on to say that the next generation of environmentalists had the will and awareness to do "what we have not yet been able to do." During a separate address that he gave at the 2020 Global Climate Action Summit, Ford stated, "If we don't halt the destruction of the natural world, nothing else will matter."
However, Ford's jet has contributed more carbon dioxide to the atmosphere in less than two months than the typical American burns in two years and the typical human globally burns in nine years. This is a significant difference. According to The Nature Conservancy, the average carbon footprint of an American is 16 tonnes per year, whereas the average carbon footprint of a person living anywhere else in the world is around 4 tonnes per year.
According to the data from monitoring flights
The private jet has been making regular trips to and from the Los Angeles neighbourhood of Hawthorne, California, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Idaho Falls, Idaho, over the course of the past two months.
The trip from Wichita, Kansas, to Hawthorne, California, was the longest one that was logged, covering 1,203 miles. Simply doing that trip resulted in the emission of seven metric tonnes of carbon.
Recent revelation by Fox News Digital
A request for comment from the Ford brand was not answered by a company spokesperson. According to a recent revelation by Fox News Digital, the well-known Hollywood filmmaker Steven Spielberg used a staggering total of $116,159 worth of jet fuel between the dates of June 23 and August 22.
Over the course of its journey
Spielberg's Gulfstream G650 travelled in excess of 17,000 miles and produced at least 179 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. While advocating for harsh environmental protection measures and providing financial backing for nuisance lawsuits filed against large oil companies, Leonardo DiCaprio has travelled considerable distances on yachts and flown in private jets while doing so. In 2016, the actor travelled roughly 8,000 miles on a private plane to accept an award for his dedication to the environment.
Additionally, Taylor Swift and members of the Kardashian family have also come under fire for their excessive use of private jets.
