Elon Musk trolled for his 9-minute jet from San Jose to San Francisco

Eagle-eyed internet sleuths have sparked outrage after revealing Elon Musk’s private jet took a painfully-brief flight this week.

According to social media users who track the technology mogul's movements, Elon Musk's private jet flew from San Jose to San Francisco. This 56km flight lasted a total of nine minutes.

When did his precise jet take off?

As per reports, the super-short flight across San Francisco Bay took place on May 6, but Twitter users widely shared the satellite map showing the plane’s flight path over the weekend, with many expressing outrages over the carbon footprint left behind by the head of an electric car company.

"Elon Musk takes off a 9-minute flight to San Francisco from San Jose, which is five stops on Caltrain," tweeted Hayden Clarkin, referring to a local commuter rail that connects San Francisco with cities to its south along the Bay. “I have no words.”

An approximate take-off of his jet depending on the traffic

As per resources, Elon Musk's plane flew some 56km from San Jose to San Francisco International Airport. Other means of transport like a car would be a 40-minute drive depending on traffic.

Ken Klippenstein posted a tweet juxtaposing the media who mentioned the above details of the short flight path with a message from Elon Musk wrote: "Tesla exists for assisting in scaling down the risk of catastrophic climate change, which affects all species on our planet."

"Even if your belief in humanity is faltering, this is worth to be taken care of," Elon Musk tweeted in 2018. “Support makes a difference. Thank you.”

Who explained a backup explanation regarding this outrage?

Editor of the New York Times and CNBC anchor Andrew Ross Sorkin explained this outrage in an alternative way.

"The plane was likely being 'repositioned' — as in the plane was sitting at one airport and then was moved to a different airport to pick up its passengers," Andrew Ross Sorkin tweeted.

"This happens every time. Planes often set at a less busy airport and then fly to another nearby." Andrew Ross Sorkin didn’t convince some users on Twitter.

Besides his duties as Chief Executive Officer of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk is also the founder of The Boring Company. This tunnel-digging firm creates “loop” projects for underground car travel. He started the firm after growing tired of the Los Angeles traffic.

The tech mogul is locked in a legal fight with Twitter after the social media company sued him for trying to back out of a $44 billion deal to buy out its shareholders and take the firm private.

Last month, several celebrities like Taylor Swift, Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, etc., came under fire for using private jets to take short flights while publicly declaring their support for combating climate change.
